A lot of learning loss happens in the summer.

It’s known as the “summer slide” and as a result, students often return in the fall forgetting critical reading, writing, and thinking skills that will have to be reviewed — or retaught all together!

But - there’s good news! It doesn’t have to be this way.

Yes, students DO need a break from the structure of a school schedule and have the chance to relax, spend extra time with family and friends, and enjoy the beautiful weather.

However, if they go an entire summer without activating their brain - they will often inevitably “slide” back a grade level or two. However, we can put a few preventative measures in place to help keep the summer slide at bay.

Introducing: The LINKtivity Learning Virtual Summer Camp Experience

…a virtual summer camp experience where students can join in from anywhere, at any time. And - when they do, they'll tap into their curiosity and uncover astonishing facts about life, our world, people, and historical events!

How does it work?

The LINKtivity Learning Summer Camp is a self-paced summer learning program with several weeks of learning and exploring. Each week provides learners with a new high-interest topic that kids will explore through an interactive LINKtivity.

They’ll discover the weekly topic through a variety of multimedia features: video, photographs, audio, graphics, interactive digital features, and MORE!

And while they are busy exploring through video, audio, text, jokes, and more - they’ll be keeping their minds fine-tuned and sharp!

Then, students are invited to take their learning off-screen with additional related learning experiences that encourage them to go outside, create art, check out related books at the library, create STEM projects, and even bake!

We've included dozens of extension activities that align with the content in the LINKtivities that students can complete throughout the summer!

No two weeks are the same - so your curious kids will always have something to look forward to!

Summer Camp Option 1: Around the World

Send your world explorers on exciting 8-week, self-paced journey across the globe! With each LINKtivity® in the series, students will dive into the ocean’s depths, circle the planet, or blast off into space—each adventure uncovering something new.

Each week as students travel AROUND THE WORLD they will:

Help your explorers feel connected right away by allowing them to choose an exploration guide to explore with during each weekly topic.

They’ll meet friends like: Liam, Darius, Pari, Mateo, Fatima, Jayla, and Leilani

CHOOSE A CATEGORY

For each topic, students can choose from 4 categories that exploring fun facts, photographs, Google Earth virtual tours, funny jokes, and more!

MORE TO EXPLORE

"More to Explore" offers students STEAM and other learning opportunities to explore the theme further. Most of these activities are designed to be off-line activities that encourage them to go outside, create art, check out related books at the library, listen to podcasts, and even bake!

Throughout the summer, students will have the option to collect all of their learning in a scrapbook!

Summer Camp Option 2: History’s Mysteries

Send your budding detectives on a 7-week, self-paced journey through history’s greatest mysteries. With each LINKtivity® in the series, students will uncover clues and fascinating facts from some of the past’s most puzzling events.

Tap in to your students’ curious minds with our 6-week, self-paced Crazy, But True! series. With each LINKtivity® in the series, students will uncover astonishing facts about life, our world, people, and historical events!

Each week as students uncover CRAZY, BUT TRUE FACTS they will:

"More to Explore" offers students STEAM and other learning opportunities to explore the theme further. Most of these activities are designed to be off-line activities that encourage them to go outside, create art, check out related books at the library, listen to podcasts, and even bake!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Each Summer Camp Experience is completely self-paced.

    However, the content has been designed to be spread out over the summer.

    With a total of 6-8 themed LINKtivities, we suggest completing about one theme each week. This includes completing the content inside the LINKtivity plus the additional extension activities that correspond with the content in the LINKtivity.

    Within each themed LINKtivity there are a variety of things to explore including watching the corresponding videos, exploring the photographs, interactive features, and completing the extension activities.

    Students can expect to spend 30-60 minutes each day on Summer Camp. However, please note: some of the extension activities will require additional time.

  • You will have access to the summer camp programs for as long as your a member of LINKtivity Learning.

  • Yes. If your account becomes inactive over the summer, the links to the summer camp LINKtivities will no longer work for your students.

    You can purchase the Summer Camp programs separately HERE, however it is more cost effective to remain a member in order to keep access.

  • Giving students and families access to the summer camp materials is easy!

    We provide a simple Family Letter PDF that you can provide to parents digitally (via email, secure online portal, etc). This PDF contains all the links to the resources needed for summer camp!

  • Although we do offer the LINKtivity Learning Summer Camp programs as a separate purchase (find it here), it is more cost effective to gain access to it through a LINKtivity Learning membership.

    PLUS: Not only will you have access to the summer camp programs, you’ll also have access to our entire library of LINKtivities for as long as you are a member!

  • Not really! Other than their curiosity, students just need a digital device and access to the internet!

    Plus, they'll want access to a few common household supplies like cardboard, paper, glue, scissors, tape, etc. to use for some of the extension activities. There's nothing complicated about this summer camp - just a ton of fun!

  • LINKtivities are typically designed for grades 3-5. The content discussed and the activities included will be most appealing and appropriate for students in these grades.
